It was a true pleasure to be able to assist and present at the national Dutch Ophthalmologic Society (NOG) congress again last month. Since the pandemic I have not been able to see and talk to my Dutch colleagues in person and it was great to finally be able to see everybody in person again.
I participated in the Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery section which was very interactive and people brought their most interesting cases to the table. I presented a series of 5 cases in which we performed a combined technique for the closure of full thickness lower eyelid defects and put special emphasis on how to do so in an aesthetically pleasing way. Through step-by-step surgical photos and videos I explained my take on this reconstruction which led to an interesting discussion. In 2025 the convention will return to the beautiful city of Maastricht and, hopefully, so will I.

Since Maastricht University is my alma mater I cannot go without posting some snapshots I took on my way to the convention (see below).
